Boyd played the trombone and starred in his high school’s production of the Sound of Music as Rolf. College brought him to the South where he remained the rest of his life. He studied marketing at William Jennings Bryan College and Austin Peay State University; both in Tennessee. On his summer breaks during college, he sold books door-to-door all over the United States. He loved to tell stories about the funny things he encountered and the marketing lessons he learned while on those book selling adventures. Robert L. Robert “Bob” Schappell, 84, of Kutztown, passed away on November 19, 2022 after hospice illness at Maidencreek Place in Reading. He was born in Kutztown PA to Clarence and Evelyn Schappell and was the husband of the late Sandra Schappell for over 60 years, having been together since high school. He worked for his father’s Kutztown food market after proudly serving in Korea as a US Army MP. A skilled tradesman, he later worked his way up to regional... He was also a member of the Washington Elks Golf League.George was also one of the top bowlers in the Washington area. He competed at the Alpine Lanes for many years. He was an avid Pirates fan, always listening to the radio and TV broadcasts. Mr.Hildebrand was a “true blue” Pitt Panthers fan, enjoying the football and basketball seasons. ” He also loved Washington& Jefferson football.

Richard J Hildebrand was born November 18, 1949, in Lawrence, Kansas, the son of George Hildebrand and Marion Probst-Swordes. He grew up in Lawrence where he received his education. While in school, Rich was very athletic and excelled in gymnastics. Phyllis had been a member of St. Paul Lutheran church; she raised her children going to the church and was a dedicated member.

In 1994, Hilde was inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame, Washington-Greene Chapter, in the sport of Softball.He was a PIAA wrestling official for 17 years. He was well respected by athletic directors and coaches in Washington and Greene Counties. He was a mentor to many of the current and past officials in Washington and Greene Counties. George coached, officiated, and mentored many young athletes at the Brownson House for many years. He was an avid golfer who organized and started the annual “Hilde Open” which is still ongoing for over 30 years.
